Urban Groove

I have just been approached about an urban groove project. So what is urban groove?

It's a new one on me. And nowt on [i]Googlepedia[/i], so it seems like a new thang for a lot of people.

My guess would be "a fusion of RnB and breakbeat". Or maybe something a bit more 'watery', like Morcheeba (apologies to Morcheeba fans!).

I would say it was something like D'Angelo? Hip Hop or DNB beats with soul/modern RNB bass/keys?

Well what do you know. I've been listening to Urban Groove for years without knowing what Urban Groove actually was.

In fact i've been listening to it for so long it wasn't even called Urban Groove when i started listening to it.

It's nearly as confusing to me as another label that i have a problem with......... Freakbeat........... don't get me started on that one!.

Spoke to the guy tonight - turns out he made up the phrase to avoid putting people off with the word 'jazz'! He is sending me a link to some of his demos, so maybe then I will be somewhat the wiser...
