How does that effect the use of an interface then, does it mean that the computer simply gets the information quicker, or is there a case of quality? I've just found firewire very very reliable and stable, hot plugging is easy and I can daisy chain devices (I have three external firewire drives) with no problems. The firewire devices are detected easily by the PC also. I don't think there's an issue of quality - if the device is working properly then the information is getting through. There's bound to be someone on here who knows more about it than me. Yes I have Flankers old Celinder. Its a great bass, and with the two Smith 5's and the Stingray I've got a quad of stunning basses that will cover nearly any playing situation I'm likely to encounter. I've also been in contact with the studio tech at Saville's (my band) studio, he said that there's not much between USB 2.0 and Firewire, so that brings an Digidesign Mbox 2 back in the line up...wahooo! As for the Celinder mate...you'll have to give me first dibs on that beast ahead of the luthier, surely? lol! kneal6 Posted May 20, 2007 Share Posted May 20, 2007 Not much difference, just make sure it's not usb1 Also, remember you don't want to be running an external hard drive and an audio interface at the same time if they're both firewire, it'll cause all kinds of problems since they have to share the bandwidth.
