BOOM1311
My fiance's birthday is coming up and he asked me to get him Kalium strings for his 6 string. Apparently the lowest string has to be .175 gauge?! ... I can't seem to find these anywhere online... I would really appreciate any help /information on these strings and where to get them!! Thanks. Annoying Twit
That's an extremely specific birthday present request. I had to google to find that Circle K strings are now renamed Kalium strings. If your partner is specialised enough to be buying those sort of strings, then I personally think it would be better if he bought them so that he can carefully examine the string specs and perhaps talk to the seller. You can buy strings direct from Circle K in the states, but there will be large postage charges. Unless things have changed, much more than you would expect for strings. If you go to their site, you'll see that there's much more to choose from apart from the gauge of the very lowest string. If I were you, I'd be tempted to buy him some socks and underwear and tell him to buy his own strings.
BassTractor
@AT: Today's spam day, you see. Some of the same stuff goes on at the Dutch bass forum. I guess these sellers have been to a weekend course in forum manipulation.
Annoying Twit
Which seller would it be? Circle-K strings don't have a UK/European agent, so it seems a strange way to spam. I sort of thought it might be a forumite having a joke. Edited September 26, 2014 by Annoying Twit
BOOM1311
I tried that site but they didn't have .175 "/ Maybe socks would be a good idea? Haha... Thanks for the suggestions

Haha... Thanks for the suggestions [/quote] They have 0.174. If your partner is so fussy that he wants 0.175 but won't accept 0.174, then I'd recommend that you leave him at home on his birthday and have a girls night out. BOOM1311
Haha... I just asked him to tell me a few things that he would like and that was one of them so he doesn't know I was going to get them. I just don't want to get .174, in case they're wrong... I'm not sure of the difference?!

waynepunkdude
If you can hear the difference then you should get yourself to a research laboratory.

Billy Apple
My missus is useless with measurements too, but I tell her it's 9 inches anyway.

barkin
String gauges are usually measured in inches. A .174 string is 1/1000th of an inch (something like the thickness of a fag paper, perhaps) thinner than a .
