John Schoen Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warwick-John-Entwistles-Personal-Collection-Pink-Buzzard-Bass-Guitar-RARE-/331328801522?pt=Guitar&hash=item4d24bc4af2 I can not see this one fetching the asking price, other ex-Entwistle Buzzards have sold for far less than this one. John Schoen Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 From the item description:
This bass has a huge crack down the middle and back. As the lore goes, while on tour in the mid 90's, Roger Daltrey asked Entwistle to turn his bass down. In true rock and roll fashion, Entwistle threw the bass at Daltrey and said, "you play the F***in' thing", as the bass hit the ground it cracked right down the middle.
Pete Townshend tells a similar story on the Ox's Tale DVD, so it could be that bass. Still way overpriced, Quote
PlungerModerno Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it... But it's too rich for my blood. Even with the cool tale and the great pics. Quote
inthedoghouse Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 If I won the Lottery I'd definitely have her ... but I haven't, so I can't Quote
Phil Adams Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014
From the item description: Pete Townshend tells a similar story on the Ox's Tale DVD, so it could be that bass. Still way overpriced,
I watched a J.E. documentary on YouTube, and that story came up. I'm sure J.E. said something like "it was an expensive one, an Alembic or something" Would account for the crack though! Quote
MB1 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 MB1. And Here's one John prepared earlier... Quote
alyctes Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Not my thing (nor in my budget!), but I'd always be a little uneasy about buying something like this from someone who doesn't know how to spell the singer's name. Quote
