lancer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 So I would like to string my Mtd kz5 with flats. Anyone used flats on a Mtd fiver? If so, what brand and gauge? Any advice greatly appreciated, Cheers Quote
GrammeFriday Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I recently acquired an MTD fretless fiver. Previous owner had strung it with Circle K rounds - not sure about the gauge but probably at least .130 for the B. Decided i would try flats to start with, so strung it with Labellas - Deep Talkin' 45-128. Loved the sound and feel of Labellas on my old Sandberg California fretless 4 so thought they might work on the MTD as well. Gave it a week or so and ... nah, previous owner was right. Replaced the flats with a set of DR Sunbeams 45-130. Oooh yes! Amazing, spectacular sound, and lovely silky feel. Game over! Quote
lancer Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) I love sunbeams, I thought chromes might be nice though. Edited September 28, 2014 by lancer Quote
GrammeFriday Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yes I'd like to give Chromes a go at some point - let us know how you get on if you do. Quote
lancer Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 Anyone tried chromes on an Mtd 5? Quote
GrammeFriday Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 You might not get too many replies - MTDs are a bit of a minority interest on Basschat! Maybe post to Talkbass instead? Quote
lancer Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 Didn't realise I had such an untrendy bass. That makes me love it just that little bit more 😜 Quote
GrammeFriday Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yeah, feel the same about mine, too! Quote
