jackcoleby
Guys, I'm looking change my head but am torn between an Orange Terror Bass 500 and a Markbass LM2 or 3 or maybe with some saving the Randy Jackson sig head (800 watts). I'll be running it with a MB 104HF 8ohm. Any advice would be great. Living miles from anywhere where I can test either of them I would appreciate your knowledge of the sounds they produce. Thanks guys.
Martin E
I used an LM2 for many years and now use an OTB. As you would suspect the LM2 has a modern uncoloured sound with plenty of controls to shape it as you wish. The TB is an old school amp with limited scope for tonal variation, They both have masses of power and are easy to carry around. You won't be disappointed with either but at the moment I am loving the old school warmth of the TB.
Old_Ben
Terror all the way: sounds great, easy to carry, but most importantly it looks cool!
Lozz196
If you like the signature sound of the OTB then go for it, insanely powerful and a nice sound. But if you want some versatilty, then the OTB isnºt the best in this area. The Markbass has more versatilty, but no drive, that however can be addressed with a DI/pre-amp pedal, then you get the best of both worlds. dannybuoy
Different tones. The MB is very neutral sounding, the OTB is much more old skool and dirtier sounding. I've just received an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, and recommend it. It can cop the vintage sounds of the OTB but is a lot more flexible. Add it to the list for sure! dave74200
I've recently bought a terror bass and it's unbelievable. How can that tone come out of that little box. Orange seem to possess a magical secret! It sounds better than the SVT2 pro I owned and that gave me a hernia!
