Dad3353
Good evening, all... I have decided to promote, each in turn, the compositions presented in the monthly BC Composition Challenge. I shall give my own, personal, view of the piece, in the hope that at least some will be inspired to give the work a listen, and perhaps a vote as their favourite. All the pieces can be heard here... Tweet, from Lurksalot ... The title's 'tweets' are immediate, announcing a swing-time bar piano/drums intro, which quickly become 'comped' backing, with flute, to an electronic monophonic birdcall, tweeting in Morse. Others join in sporadically, in strict harmony, weaving in and out, until, at a signal, a 'barber-shop' climax is reached... The drums call everyone to order and the 'swing' comes in in earnest, complete with walking bass. The cheeping continues over the band's arrangement, harmonising joyously until the very end. A final 'cheep' bids us 'Goodnight'. This is a multi-facet piece, with a good deal of 'nod and a wink'. No bad thing, especially when done with such panache and expertise. The underlying accompaniment is very apt, and musically elegant, without ostentation. Nice, clean arrangement, carrying the overlaid theme very well. As for the 'song': yes, it requires transcription to appreciate to the full the sheer poetry emanating from the solitary bird on the bottom wire. Something like 'Please don't poop my friends ahahahahah'. Hmm... Well, it's only a bird; what did you expect..? The second part is a rendering, in Morse still, of a famous Sinatra line. I'll let you work it out yourselves. Tomorrow's 'Play of the Day': Dad3353's 'Wind In The Wire (54+1...)'. Yesterday's was...
