leroybasslines
I've added Snarky Puppy - Quarter Master
Great shout! What a tune and what a brilliant player Michael League is! His playing on Bill Laurance's album Flint is superb...a complete bass player's performance - 5 string hi-fi sounds, Fender P flatwound vibes, Hofner bass, upright bass, Moog bass...stunning! Thanks for that; I started the Mr Pino Palladino playlist a while back. The idea was to create a playlist of as many of his performances as possible, but the guy's played on so much stuff I ran out of steam. It's an open playlist...feel free to add as many tunes you know he's on as you can!

Mornats
I listened to Queen's Another One Bites the Dust from this playlist and *really* listened to the bass line. Despite it being one of the most recognisable and memorable bass lines on earth it absolutely blew me away listening to it on a good system whilst actively listening to the bass, the mix and the whole thing. Maaaaan what a bass line!
Dood
I listened to Queen's Another One Bites the Dust from this playlist and *really* listened to the bass line. Despite it being one of the most recognisable and memorable bass lines on earth it absolutely blew me away listening to it on a good system whilst actively listening to the bass, the mix and the whole thing. Maaaaan what a bass line!
This is almost another conversation in itself! It seems like an odd question, but I've posed it many times. "How do you listen to music?" - For me, I have to admit that I am rubbish with lyrics and don't know what half of my favourite songs are actually about - but I get very drawn in by the rhythms and even the sound of the mix and mastering. In fact, looking back on it, I should have known I was going to be a bass player as all I seem to hum are bass lines! I definitely 'study' my music though. I get frustrated when I have to listen on a stereo that sounds rubbish or has no low end. I *really* want to hear what the bass actually sounds like! - I'm... I...well... I'm a bass geek. Aren't I? lol!
Mornats
I'm the same. I can barely sing along to most choruses as I don't pay attention to the words. I don't really get what most songs are about as a result but I do know how the riffs and the beats and the sound and feel of it affect me and how it makes me feel. I listen to most of my music sat at my PC through Spotify. It all goes through a good sound card, into my Rotel amp then into my Tannoy E11 speakers so I get a really nice sound out of it. I pay a lot more attention to the tone of the bass than I used too though. Bass geeks for life eh?
Bassman Sam
I've just added a few under my meatspace name of Alan English. I know Money by the Floyd is already on there but I had to put up the live version with Guy Pratt's bass solo. I know he gets some stick on here but I like it.
