I have heard from bass gear that these are good. Has anyone else had experience playing, or hearing one. Just not superkeen on the wing on the body.

Not personally, but they are mentioned every now and again on here, for example: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215640-eve-basses/
But I must say that for a British luthier, I feel they're not mentioned that often, so I'd guess few people on BC have one. No idea why.

I played one at last years London Bass Guitar Show, a fiver with the curly top horn.

It was superbly made and sounded as good as a host of other active custom builds I've tried. Nothing lept out at me to differentiate it from similar builders instruments, but it was a good solid bass.

I think they do a range with limited options that come in under a grand if I recall correctely... that sounds like pretty good value.

I tried one at the bass show a couple of years ago. Very well made, beautifully balanced instrument. Nothing particularly note worthy regarding the sound, but good all the same. I was slightly put off by a surprisingly sharp (unrolled) fingerboard edge but apart from that they're great.

I'll get my angle grinder sharpened up just in case. If it's a keeper might well see if I can find an EQ01 to slot in.
