JamesTun
Hi there, I need help regarding a strings and changing them.. So my G string broke. As you can see. Only today have I tried taking it off and the mechanics has then stopped me from changing when the tuning knobs are at the back. As shown in the picture, the bolt is sticking out where I don't want it to be. I'm tempted to open up the black box to see what it is doing. But then worrying about breaking some of the mechanics in there. The bolt coming out of the black bit cannot be moved but the tuner can. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, James. Kiwi
The screw attaching the tuner knob to the string anchor has come out. Just screw it back in again and make sure it goes into the string anchor.
BassBus
Don't be afraid to take the top off the tuner box. Just remember one thing, loosen all the strings off before you loosen any screws otherwise you'll have bits flying all over the room. Will that screw turn in to the tuner at all? MB1
MB1. You'll need to release the tension on the other strings before you Consider undoing the box as you put it. I wouldn't bother with that to be honest If you get a screwdriver with the correct head you should be able to screw the screw back in Or at least push the string anchor out if it's already screwed into the anchor. Just be very careful and Don't force it .
JamesTun
I have only used my hand with the string anchor. But it doesn't seem to move. That is as far as it will go into the box.
Acebassmusic
Turn the tuning knob anti-clockwise. This should move the bolt back into the knob and the string holder should appear as if by magic at the pickup side. The ball end should then come out easily. JamesTun
So I tried screwing it back in. But I think there is a string stuck in the box... That is how far it goes in. Edited October 4, 2014 by JamesTun
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
I would suggest either getting a safety pin and putting it into the round part of the string, or just keep toggling the wire up and down etc. this happened to me some time ago
JamesTun
I would suggest either getting a safety pin and putting it into the round part of the string, or just keep toggling the wire up and down etc. this happened to me some time ago
I eventually got it out. But I had to almost hit it in. The tuner on the G string was really slow moving up and. Really stiff. So I might have to get something to lubricate it. But its alright now! Thanks for the help
BassBod
A soft HB pencil will help keep things smooth - just pencil over the screw thread before you fit the new string. Sometimes although the ball end fits, the wrapped wire in front can stop it dropping in properly - usually an extra twist or squeeze will tidy it up.
