October’s Composition Challenge is now underway.

Here's the image for your inspiration, chosen by last month's winner Bilbo...

And here are the rules 'n' stuff…

By entering the competition you agree to the Basschat Terms & Conditions and Forum Guidelines, which are designed to help ensure the forum remains free of offensive and/or illegal behaviour and material. In a nutshell:

1) Please avoid any content that other forum users may find offensive. If your track contains explicit lyrics, for example, then please warn other forum users so they can choose for themselves whether to listen to it.

2) Please make sure you have permission to use any 3rd party sounds included in your track (ie. sounds that you have not recorded yourself, such as samples of other people's music). The owners of Basschat accept no responsibility for infringements of copyright or other forms of legal ownership, which are solely the responsibility of competition entrants. If we spot any breaches of copyright then your track will be removed from the competition.

For reference: here's a great source of copyright-free material, all available under Creative Commons license: http://www.freesound.org/

3) Entries should be no more than five minutes long and written/produced during the month of the competition, taking inspiration from the photo provided. No cheating!

If you have any questions about the competition rules, just ask.

The deadline for entries is midnight on Sunday 26th October.

Get to it... :)

Don't rush me, folks, it ain't kind. The rendering and post-mastering is what takes the time. Maybe this evening; probably early hours, though. Yes, it's coming on nicely. How are your's progressing..? :P
One eternal problem is keeping 'em below 5'. Too much to put in; what to leave out..? Doh, my head..!

A bit of spare time, so I knocked up another one, just for kicks. A prolific picture for ideas; so here's another 'slant'...

Enjoy.

Disclaimer: This one is not intended to be entered for voting, simply a 'filler' whilst waiting for voting to begin. Thank you.

I got something working this evening but I think it needs something else to take it up a notch and make it more than a sketch. We shall have to see where it goes.

Maybe...

... or maybe I've got not much to add to the debate about 'The Troubles' and/or beheadings, and no basses and/or amps to buy and/or sell. Parking is not a daily worry to me, either.

Although it's true I should get out more. Would that I could. :(

It's also a darned good picture..! :gas:

I got inspired (arguably!) and with some crazy 'boning by a local jazzist, produced this:

For a change I used both Wal and Sandberg basses with plenty of effects to disguise them!

Interesting stuff, and an 'out there' approach.
Good work.

Cheers!
But what's IBTL?
It's an acronym for 'In Before The Lock', meaning that the post has been posted (just...) before the mods close down ('lock'...) a topic, usually for inappropriate language or subject.
Apparently our friend Lowdown has identified some sort of innuendo in your phrasing. Can't imagine what, being too young, innocent and naive, of course. Maybe it was meant in jest..?

I wouldn't dream of slipping in any innuendo.
Being brought up as a Catholic meant that large parts of my youth were spent at Catechismm under a priest.
We were taught to be upstanding and not smutty!
