Hi Sean, did the hipshots just drop right in, or was there a bit more to it than that? :)

They were very close but I used a bit of 240 grit paper around my finger to ream out the holes a bit. It only took about two minutes a hole of gentle sanding. Two of the screw holes match, the other two are close but not quite so I drilled a tiny pilot hole and screwed the other two in. No holes can be seen and if you put the old tuners back on no-one will be any the wiser.

Ah, nice one. I had to do the same when I got my Mighty Mite neck for my bitsa P.

This is becoming ever more tempting!
Cheers!

Just picked one up in Sky Blue. Very well made. Unbelievably so for the money. Tried it through a Promethean combo and it sounds really well. Very jazz like. High gloss finish. Not light but not too heavy either. Quite impressed really. As well made if not better than a lot of Mex. The necks not as thin as a Fender jazz profile, its a bit of a cross between a J and a P. Yeah, I think I would gig with one if my JV wasn't available...

Can't beat these with black hardware. Nice bass Mark88mph.

I've gone little further with mine. Pickups now changed to Duncan STacked Jazz bridge and SPB-1 neck. And my graphite Status neck just looks sooooo good on it.

I'm not up on what makes different eras of p-basses different eras. (Apart from the early 50s ones).

What are the distinguishing characteristics?
