Trade Pending - 1977 Fender Jazz

I'm thinking about moving my 77 Jazz on... I'm kinda on the lookout for something active, more contemporary sounding, just thought I'd put the feelers out and see what turns up, preferably 4's, maybe 5's, not interested in 6's or above.

It's all original except for the strap buttons, h/c too. It's in great condition for a 31 year old bass, there's life left in the frets and it's got some serious low end to go with that 70's pickup spacing funk.

The bass is in Ireland, though I'll consider shipping it anywhere for the right bass, so feel free to talk to me.

More pics available if required

How about a lovely Zon Sonus 4? Beautiful transparent finish "Caribbean blue" ash body, slim graphite neck and Bart's. It would certainly give you a more contemporary tone, and the playability is simply outstanding as well. PM me if you're at all interested for pics etc.

Hi guys,

thanks for your responses...

Bigwan, got more info on the Stingray?

Matt, interested, PM sent

WaywardWanderer, cheers but I'll pass on this one

Silverfoxnik, thanks for the advice, I'm not 100% about this, it's a great bass, but at this time I'm just looking for something different, I'd like to see what else is out there.

Natural finish, rosewood board. '96. Good nic other than a few knocks right on the end of the headstock. Recently received it in a trade. Loving the Musicman vibe when I play it myself, but it doesn't fit with my band. There's a pic in Nathan's (NJE) porn thread, although I have a black pickguard on it now:

Sorry - I realise it's not helpful to get comments like mine when you're trying to do something as serious as parting with what is a 'classic' bass..

What prompted me to comment was that about ten years ago, I sold my very rare 'leather scratchplate' model Wal (one of only 24 made) to a mate and I've regretted it ever since!

Good luck with it...

Check out my US Lakland Joe Osborn in the for sale form. I would be happy to swap that over. Its basically a modern take on your bass with Nordstrand pickups and an Aguilar preamp.

How about a 16year old G&L Asat 4 string, honey burst or honey(can't remember) maple neck & board, all the sound options you could wish for. Active or passive, Plays fantastic, looks great, I just really want a Jazz.

Pic's if required

gorgeous bass, would love that bass, have a bump-lee
How about running your bass through a Sadowsky outboard preamp? That might give you what you're looking for.

Thanks for the offers everyone, some beautiful instruments there. I am just thinking about them at the moment, I wasn't expecting such a variety of offers so quickly. I'll PM each of you when I've made up my mind. Thanks again. J.
