Roland Rock Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) I'm loving this cover of Get Lucky by the excellent Knower. Check out the superb bass playing from Tim Lefebvre (ex Wayne Krantz) http://youtu.be/DMfxKYEN_KQ Edited October 5, 2014 by Roland Rock Quote
JTUK Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Got about a minute in... The whole point of playing this at a party gig is for the groove of the original and if you can get it to work, it is good fun. It is a total arse otherwise, IMO.. Not a fan of this, tbh... Quote
Muzz Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Completely different song, as JTUK says, the original groove is gone. Didn't like it at all. Quote
Roland Rock Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014
Completely different song
I agree, and I love both of them. I like a cover with a totally different interpretation of a song. I think what I like about this is that the electronic sections are what I had hoped Random Access Memories would be more like. The funk/fusion sections are great for me as they are not too smartarse/complex (delete as appropriate) and have a super tight groove - a bit like a Dirty Loops where someone has intervened and binned all of the elements that I dislike. The original and this cover both have different, but enjoyable grooves IMO. Quote
BassTractor Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I liked that a lot, so sadly it's insipid dross. Sorry, RR. Quote
