Samfordia
Recently, I have started to experiment with different sounds to try and get somewhere near to the sound I would like once I have finally bought all of the basic gear. I thought it could be interesting for me if I posted a link to the nearest thing I could find to the sound I am after. Hopefully I could then further learn about how one goes about manipulating what comes out of the amp and what gear or technique is needed. I am new to pedals so feel free to use layman's terms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HD0c233hyYM Edited October 5, 2014 by icastle Link Fixed. xgsjx
Overdrive & some EQ. I could get a similar sound with the Moog Bass Murf.
Defo
Tube Screamer with a bit of chorus?
JapanAxe
Tube Screamer with a bit of chorus?
I'm not hearing any chorus in there, or indeed any kind of modulation, just drive. Great sound mind.
uncle psychosis
Its just overdrive isn't it?
SmallDawg
Definitely overdrive, probably a sansamp BDDI (or RBI if he's using rack mounts) and either he's adding vibrato to the note or he's got chorus going on with it. Apart from that, just crank the mids to 75% and have the bass and treble around 50%. Playing with a pick will really help nail that punch too. Samfordia
I clearly need to wait until I have a decent amp before trying some of these ideas.
xgsjx
I didn't hear any modulation fx. Overdrive, yes. Then it's either been EQ'd a bit or has a static filter on it.
lefrash
Sounds just like a mildly overdriven P bass to me. Nice tone, and Id say its pretty easy to get. In fact I have an old OD nonamed pedal that gets quite a similar sound. A definite mid feel to it I'd say.
vailbass
it's a pretty harsh sounding digital distortion box with an amp played quite loud, adding it's own overdrive; any cheap distortion pedal will do that sound for you quite easily...:-)
ubit
I use an MXRM80 to get distortion. It's quite simply the best distortion I've ever come across , because every one I tried before, was fuzzy and I hate that. The MXR just gives a nice overdriven sound that sits in the mix lovely, but sounds killer on its own. Why don't you give one a try?
Lozz196
I`d look at a DHA VT pedal for that kindof sound, it just sounds like a valve amp with the gain and mids cranked to me, and the DHA VT pedals excell at that.
