I've always had mine the other way round with the adjustable bit near the bottom strap pin... guess it doesn't make much difference really. [/quote] I'd feel really odd with it the other way round mind you, I use comfort straps and have my bass even higher than the guy in your photo, so I think I'd end up with the non padded bit on my shoulder if I was to have it the same way round he's got it.....
