Strange Hole

Hi

Doing some radical surgery on my Mex Jazz bass and found a strange indent on the body, just below the orange sticker, can anyone identify what this is for?

It's a hole from the CNC machine as far as I know, both my Mexican Fenders have had the same thing.

Maybe the use it in the spraying process somehow?
