ash2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Share Posted July 31, 2008 i recently bought an ashdown abm 410t (the older version with celestion speakers) from ebay [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160266425477&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006"]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006[/url] however one of the speakers doesnt produce any sound, according to him there appears to be no damage to the speaker cone or magnet though. he says i need to get a celestion 8ohm 150watt speaker, but i cant seem to find any from uk retailers. would it have to be celestion? or could i use a different 10" speaker? anyone know where and what the best speaker to get would be? bit of a long shot but would it be possible to turn it into a 4ohm cab?would i have to replace all the speakers? Or you could replace all 4 speakers with 16 ohm ones, and wire it in paralell to give 4 ohms, or 4 x 1ohm speakers wired in series. There's no way you could turn your three 8 ohm speakers into a 4 ohm cab by buying only one additional speaker. You either need to replace the one 8 ohm speaker with another 8 ohm speaker to give you an 8 ohm cab or replace all of the speakers with 4 ohm ones to give you a 4 ohm cab. It doesn't have to be a Celestion speaker, as long as the power rating and ohms are the same it will work, but it is usually best to replace like with like where possible. But you need to open up the cab before you do anything - you'd have to open it up to replace the speaker so you might as well do it before. Always best to check what is actually inside before you buy anything, just in case you've been given duff information. I don't know this cab so i don't know if it will open at the back or the front. If there are screws on the back then undo these to remove the back and have a look inside. If there are no screws on the back then you will have to undo the front grille. Once removed the speakers will probably be loaded from the front - undo any screws around the duff speaker and pull it forwards out of the cab. I got a couple of eminence betas for my peavey 210 recently form jpgelectronics. they were good, only had 1 speaker in stock although the website said 4 in stock. sent the first one through quickly and the 2nd one came in sooner than they said it would. they kept me up to date with the situation and were polite and apologetic throughout. You can get them in various power ratings, unless you are using a huge amp that speaker would spread the load nicely. You could sell the three good ones and put the money towards new speakers to put in to make it a 4 ohm, 1000w beast. 4x16 ohm Eminence @ 250 watts each, wired in paralell. That'll kick ass!
