NancyJohnson
dUg Pinnick just posted this on his Facebook page. It's a prototype...no idea what the specs are, but I've been kind of like this since I saw it:

Lozz196
Interesting the guys comments that his strings were dead, thought they sounded very twangy, albeit in a scooped manner.
Cosmo Valdemar
Wow! Definitely sounds like King's X! I assume it's 2 channel?
NancyJohnson
I wouldn't be surprised if the layout works like the old Landmark heads...one input but with current Tech21 stuff behind the facade. I read - on Talkbass I think - that prices would be comparable to the recent VT Bass head, so you're looking at somewhere south of £2k. bartelby
Could they have lowered the bit rate any more for that first video? Unless the amp is creating those compression artefacts!!
Graham
That sounds fantastic, but £2k? Blimey. I think the EBS Fafner 2 works on a similar principle and is a few hundred quid less.
Wolverinebass
This is just stupid. You know that amp will be great, but 2 things concern me. Firstly, it's class D. I have now come to the belief that they don't have the same bass response as solid state amps. Your own experience may differ. I noticed when I switched from a peavey ipr1600 to my Yamaha, the bass response was much, much more obvious. It certainly wasn't the 100w difference. Secondly and most importantly, what are they doing with the price? That's so having a laugh! 2 grand? Jog on.
dannybuoy
Sound like a VT Bass pedal with the character knob cranked up to harsh. Clank city. Save some dough and buy a VT DI, compressor and power amp!
spectoremg
Sounds great for that JJB sound you've always wanted, otherwise sh%te!
NancyJohnson
I'm still not sure whether it's actually even on sale yet. Edited April 12, 2015 by NancyJohnson
It's not yet. Nobody has one and I heard an interview with pinnick last week where he said there were a couple of things to get tweaked still before it went out. I'd bet August. Cuzzie
Old thread revived. Can anyone talk about their experience with this in anger? Really would like to hear from users about its tone, especially the low end channel clean

Cuzzie
Cheers bro, it looks tasty and he gets some serious sounds out of it as well. Second hand market on this is pretty slow/fairly non existent unless it's an import, and that's a lot of wedge! I know only I can answer as its personal preference, but still wonder whether this would cure all my 'dirt' needs and could offload a bunch of pedals to finance it, or whether it's just too much amp unless you are realistically playing big areas and often. I did email Tech 21 and suggest they do a lower power half price version like a 5-700w and they said good idea, but not yet... Be great if someone out there actually has one to get some more personal info, or I may have to try to contact Jon on you tube. Appreciate you taking the time to find the links
LewisK1975
No problem - Jon is a very affable guy and he'll definitely give you a honest opinion on whether the amp will do what you're looking for. Would definitely suggest contacting him. He's on facebook too.

NancyJohnson
I saw dUg at The Cutting Room in New York last year (a double header with Corey Glover) and we swung by the venue mid-afternoon to get our tickets. Crew were doing the load in while we were having a cheeky beer and I had the opportunity to get a good look at the prototype head with Corey's bass player and a guy from Tech 21. I've posted up somewhere else on this thread about that experience. From a live aspect, we were in the VIP seating (waitress service!) about ten feet from the stage and dUg sounded incredible. Cuzzie
This is doing my bank balance no good.....knew I should not have started it up again. An amp is a hard one to hide from the mrs....
Part of my current setup is a two channel floorboard running a Sansamp BDDI for low end and for the treble side I can choose from a Boss ODB3, Sansamp VTBASSDI or Sansamp GT2 (the GT2 is a guitar emulator, so it's low on bass output), this goes into a stereo poweramp and a pair of cabinets. Tonally, I'm very close to the dUg tone just using the BDDI and the GT2, but it's just missing something. It's a lot of money for an amp (c.£2.5K). Cuzzie
Tell me about it! You can get it close to £1K statside just about incliuding import second hand, then there is whether or not you need step down transformer... i have got close but different using just 1 channel. I have a Darkglass B7K with most of the lows taken out, and then i put them back in with the Mantic Beef Bag and Hartke VXL DI box. Just also acquired the Two Notes Le Bass for a mini pick up and go board, but i may be anle to link it all together. I have a Darkglass VMT to throw into the mix also. My amp currently is a Hartke LH1000 which is powerful and OK, lots of bang for the buck and nicely amplifies the sound created by the pedals. I just changed to a Barefaced Super Twin which suits me better than the HyDrives i had. Not sure i actually NEED to change, but Need, Want, Must and Have are interchangeable 4 letter words......! I posted about the Wounded Paw 701 to see if that was an affordable option, that or maybe a Reidmar i've been liking the look of.
