ahpook Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 i'm just curious...anyone ever used one on bass ? Quote
Dood Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I haven't, but I would strongly suspect that it would need some dry bass mixed in parallel so you don't lose any bottom end when it is kicked in... bit like the MXR M80 I guess! Quote
ahpook Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 i'm thinking of building myself one, so tweaking the circuit would be an option. Quote
Matty Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I have one. Nice sound, but theres a bit of a volume and bass drop, so a blend would be good. The other thing i have found with it is that it makes my pick ups microphonic, with everything froma p-bass pick up, to EMGs to even the piezo saddles on my Variax. If your not careful, it wails away. Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 i've used on one on bass. there is a big bass loss, as noted by Matty. I thought it would be quite similar to the DOD250, as i believe they have quite similar circuits, but they sound like two very diferent beasts. I know a lot of bassists use the 250 for light grit, but if you want light grit, get a cream pie! Quote

ahpook Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 thanks for the tips folks. i was wondering how much of the bass would be affected by the stock circuit. Quote
umph Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 looking at the schematic its gonna lose a lil bit, change the input cap to a .1uf cap from the 0.01 and it should be all good either that or change the output cap to something a bit larger but that might make it sound a bit more gainy etc. Quote
