andytunstall Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I've just bought a German 1990s Streamer LX a badly warped neck (I did know this the guy advertised it as such!) Does anyone know a) Do Warwick (or wanyone else supply new or reconditioned necks? Have asked them but no reply yet Does anyone know a good guitar tech/luthier in the South of England who may be able to help - I've been quoted £500 ish so far - that may be OK but wondered if anyone knew anyone else? Grangur Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 My guess is £500 is cheaper than a new neck. I'd ask the luthier if he's ever done this type of work before and if he has, what was his success rate. Also what guarantee he can offer. Here's a thread of luthiers. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/26654-recommended-luthiers/ I hope this helps Welcome to BC btw Quote
jgmh315 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) You could try this guy, don't know how close this is mind you. SMP Artizan on Facebook. Really nice bloke, really knows his stuff. Edited October 10, 2014 by jgmh315 Quote
andytunstall Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Thanks both = excellent advice! Certainly sounds worth saving! Quote
3below Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 £500 seems somewhat steep, is this for new neck or repair? Where are you based, it will help identify possible known luthiers. Quote
andytunstall Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 sorry thats a repair though someone said a new warwick neck might be only £300 IN WHICH CASE YES" Quote
Skol303 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 A recent thread dealing with the same problem that you might find useful: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/243973-want-to-see-what-an-ebay-seller-regarded-as-a-small-neck-twist/ Might be worthwhile messaging the thread starter about his similar experience. He mentions that his own bass was fixed by "John Williams of Noiseworks". Quote
