JamesBass Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Been jamming with my drummer buddy today and we had some really tasty groove going, couple of bars of pushing it and then reigning it in and sitting just behind the beat nice and lazy, then finally bringing it home nice and straight! Was such a good jam! Beat manipulation is such a great tool we as bass players have! It doesn't get used enough! Quote

JTUK Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Had a very good drummer in last night and his tendency was to push. Felt uncomfortable to me and I didn't like it in the first set. He loosened up in the second and we had more fun... For me, the best feel/groove drummers tend to be back. Quote

[/quote] I do prefer it more behind than in front, but sometimes you can really mess with the guitarists and singers by just pushing it! Quote
