cocco Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Is this essentially a rebranded Washburn vulture?
Bassassin Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 This isn't a Matsumoku bass, Daion was a brand owned & built by Yamaki. There's some crossover because Yamaki manufactured Washburns in the late 70s/early 80s, before production moved to Matsumoku. This has some similarities in build & hardware to the early Washburns but it's quite a different shape to the Vulture II, and probably a bit more refined. Stunning bass & you really don't see many of them - I think another BCer (can't remember who right now) has one of these. Jon.

chopper Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) This is a fantastic bass! Regarding the reference to the Vulture II. The Vulture II is one of the basses I still miss and I do regret the sale. It was beautiful, and both the Vulture and the Daion was built by Yamaki. But, Daion is playing in a higher league. The Daion is vibrating under your hands. At least my 2 Daions do. And the pickups seems to be a bit better. In fact these are the best P/J basses I ever played and I will never change out the pickups. This is a bargain and I am sorry I can't afford buying one more. Buy this someone so that I don't have to see it Edited November 4, 2014 by chopper
chaypup Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The only reason I haven't bought this is that my fretless Daion is so good I have no need of the fretted version.
