Thanks KB. Not really my style to jump in feet first like this but rather impressed with some of the demo videos I've found in the meantime. Technically we're chalking this up as her engagement present to me so it's guilt free too.

anyway. I'll do a thread when I've given it the beans. Thanks for the impromptu inspiration :)

Alright so the button is pushed. Without wishing to thread-jack, what should I expect? There's not a lot of info online about that B550 model. Looks ok though :)

Am I reading this right? There is a white 5 string version!? Christmas is coming too....

Maybe they're just testing the water and watching our responses.

Then next year they fill all our wishes even AT's 9 string Chapman stick, but they'll show their cruel side and release it in 2 parts
as a 9 string bass and a stick. :o

Seriously if they sell enough of the T-birds there's a chance for variations. Not looking for another 5 string but I'd be tempted by
a white T-bird. Though who would buy my Epi sunburst T-bird then :)

Just going to email Thomann now. I'll mention 5 string in white.

Email sent. just have to wait and see if I get a response Pete

I just bought one of the TV silver epiphone ones few days ago, a B stock bargain job. A quick set up and it's fantastic, much better than my previous epi t birds, or the risible tokai I sent back. These HB's look great for the cash. I've rated everything of theirs that I've bought.

With mine I had a bit of carbon vinyl wrap left from my car, so I thought I'd go with my usual stripes, only it sorta ended up 'matching' the car ;)

That T-bird looks OK from here for the price. Has a battery compartment in a funny place, mind.

Also, what a shame they didn't take the opportunity to move the jack socket to the edge of the body rather than the front. I like to tuck my lead in under the strap to help stop it popping out, and if the socket's on the front that means a big loop of lead getting in the way. This is my gripe with the standard Epiphones, too.

This one's here. I'm not going to write too much as I'm on my phone atm. Generally pleased but only got there with a serious truss rod kerfuffle and a shim in the neck pocket. Thomann customer service were pretty good about it. I guess one takes one chances at this sort of money.

Probably a cheaper socket on the front. I have Neutrik right-angle jacks on some of my leads. No big loop, but it may catch on the TB tonepot. Works OK on Fender.

Aye, a right-angle jack helps. I just don't like to have too much nonsense going on that can get in my way. Socket on the side of the body keeps things clean and tidy.

Probably it's cheaper to drill a hole in the front of the body whilst cutting the pickup bays, rather than have another router working on the side. Hence, I imagine, similar positioning on the cheap Epiphone T-birds.
