Original one finally gave up after 10 years earlier this year so I replaced it with a similar design. I also picked up another bigger flat bed folding one from Lidl which I also use on occasion but it's not so good up curbs as the sack trolley. [/quote] I think I remember recently seeing a "climbing trolley" in Lidl's. Either way, a trolley of some description should be a part of every gigging bassist's kit IMO. I bought a similar item from Maplins, twenty quid it was - and it's served me very well - not just for gigs but for taking heavy or awkward items down to the Post Office so that PorcelFarce can put them on the wrong van. [/quote] Yep, those trolleys are fine indoors and on smooth tarmac but I had issues with gravelly car parks, so bought one with fixed wheels. Does the job much better. [/quote] Yeah you can buy ones that do proper stairs but the design usually has to incorporate a 3 wheel arrangement on each side mounted in a triangle and that makes them much bulkier to store in the car. Musky Posted October 13, 2014 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Bear in mind that a drop of around 2" will double the load on the trolley (less any give in the tyres, which isn't much). So careful if bumping it off a kerb. My experience with that type of trolley is that first the wheels won't flip out, requiring you to hold both wheels out while using a foot to lower the plate. Then the plate will start bending down from the horizontal. I obviously wasn't careful enough on those kerbs. Unless storage space is a real issue I feel the ones you can pick up from Aldi/Lidl without retractable wheels are a better bet. Twice the load handling as well. And if space really isn't an issue one of those stores (can't remember which) is currently doing a good non-folding sack trolley for a very good price. I won't expect it to last for ever or have the strength and robustness of a heavy duty sack truck. I do have a slight amount of common sense. It says it can cope with 69kg and is pretty well constructed, Costco tend to sell decnt quality gear. so just one cab at a time, gentle gentle up and down curbs, i probably would assit the lift up and down curbs anyhoo just out of care for the amp/ cab itself. el-gnomo Posted October 13, 2014 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I've got the "MagnaCart" which I got off a guitarist about 3 years ago, still works fine, goes over pretty much anything if you are sensible (struggles on muddy grass) I can take both my cabs at the same time on it, and I can't lift them both at the same time as they are too heavy! A little bit rickety under the weight of the mesa and the handle is a little too short but beats carrying it any day of the week. I had decided to go with the trolley rather then casters as I have the mesa ext cab for the walk about aswell and fixed Casters would prevent stacking.....but having used the mesa tonight for the first time (with the band) I'm not even sure I'll need the ext can as it is SERIOUSLY loud Will give it some thought Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
