skidder652003 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 still pushing it...like it, can't see this one on radio 2 anytime soon! Quote
Pinball Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I don't like it but only because it is emotionally strong and takes me somewhere I don't want to go. I find it almost painful to listen too. His voice is as amazing as ever! Quote
PaulWarning Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 pretentious crap, mind you I could only listen to the first minute, does it get any better? Quote
toneknob Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014
pretentious crap, mind you I could only listen to the first minute, does it get any better?
Similar, just more so Quote
ezbass Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Got to 1:38, I'm not liking it - at all; fearful, sub-jazz racket to my ears. Quote
toneknob Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Incidentally, It's "Heroes"'s birthday today. 37! Just for one day. Quote
Marvin Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 If it were an unknown doing this then it would be ignored, completely ignored. Stick Bowie's name to it and all of a sudden it becomes interesting etc etc. Quote
madshadows Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Don't like it at all, bring back Ziggy LOL John Quote
taunton-hobbit Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Oh dear - s'Bowie, (still) off on one, mind you, gotta give the geezer this, the voice still sounds very close to Space Oddity and he's got a bit of petty cash these days so I guess The Boy dun Good...........? Quote
bubinga5 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) don't like that at all. it actually hurts my ears.. wouldn't like to pre judge it on the rest of his new recordings though.. I've always judged him like Prince, always the experimentalist. Edited October 14, 2014 by bubinga5 Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I'm a fan of Bowie, but I didn't like that. Much of Bowie's best stuff has very well crafted melodies, e.g. Heroes, married with a very interesting production. I didn't hear any well constructed melody in the new song. Quote
BassTractor Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I liked that a lot, but it will never become a fave despite the rather lovely accompaniment, due to the conservative melody and Bowie showing litte sign of being able to pull this off. He totally lacks authority in my ears, and seems a follower of the band, not a soloist. Still like it. Quote
Billy Apple Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Not for me. Too rattley, widdley and clangey Quote
bubinga5 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 reminds me of free jazz.. don't want dismiss free jazz, just sounds wrong to me. no direction at all, not that it has to have. Quote
