xgsjx
OK he's not a bassist, but LFO had some excellent basslines in their songs. He passed away last week after a medical complication.
Skol303
Sad news indeed. I remember seeing them play at the Sheffield Octagon and watching all of the bottles rattle behind the bar when they played 'LFO'. True pioneers of the lowest of the low end. I'm going to crack open a beer and dust off some LFO tonight. No better time to do so. RIP
Roland Rock
I love their stuff, but hadn't listened to them for ages. News of Mark's sad passing prompted me to dig out some of their stuff tonight.
paul_5
I was introduced to his work through Björk (not personally). Sad loss of a true pioneer.
thisnameistaken
I saw LFO a couple of times back in the day. It was never really my cup of tea but their tunes sounded amazing through a big sound system. I grew up in Wakefield and I was a teenager when the whole rave scene was blowing up so I knew a lot of people who knew Mark and bumped into him from time to time in clubs in Leeds. Chatting to him I always got the impression that they weren't trying to be revolutionary at all, they were just doing what came naturally to them. He made friends easily, very likeable guy, and basically a habitual music producer. Wish I was half as dedicated.
