BigRedX Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I'm thinking 60s Burns. Maybe a Nu Sonic or Vista Sonic? Quote
Kev Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 it looks like a burns defo not a jaguar i dont think Quote
fretmeister Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 mmm - fair few ideas there. I wonder if I can find a better clip. Quote
bass_ferret Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 What is it you like - the shape or the sound? Quote
Adrenochrome Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Looks like a Burns Nu-sonic to me. However there were quite a few similar looking basses from that era including some Italian ones. Quote
The Burpster Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Her name is Sarah Brown, and she's on myspace. She is a well respected blues artiste from Austin Tx (where Stevie Ray Vaughn came from) so I HUGELY doubt it will be a Burns...... Besides if you look on her myspace you can see a pic of that bass in its entirety and it has 4 on a side tuners..... The Youtube is from 93/94 so its waaaaay too early for a Jag, and it doesnt look like a Mustang either. My guess is its an early Schecter with a PG. However, if your on Myspace send her a message and ask...... If you do let us know...! Quote
bassaussie Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 It's a 60s Silvertone, model 1443. Silvertone basses around that time were made by Danelectro - I think Silvertone was the house brand for Sears. You can read all about it here http://www.vintagesilvertones.com/forsale_...e_1443bass.html Damn cool looking bass. There was one on Ebay a few months back (US of course). Quote
bass_ferret Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 That looks like it. I guess the closest modern bass is a Fender Jag or Lakland Decade. Quote

On her Myspace Sarah mentions getting her first bass from a pawn shop, I wonder if thats it? Quote
I remember reading an article with her some years back, and I have a feeling she's used that Silvertone for a really long time. I'm actually a bit of a Dano/Silvertone fan - I've got one of those really cool guitars with the amp in the case. It's a 60s job as well, and the guitar is awesome. The amp's got a nice sound as well, it's just a little awkward with it's size. Quote
