Lw.
Great choice - I had a play on one a couple of weeks ago & thoroughly enjoyed it (despite being more of a jazz man), I can't really justify the new price at the moment but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a used one. Really nice basses, I would just change the pick-guard as my thumb nail rubbing on the alu made me feel a bit ill.
mcnach
Actually I went for a Fender 50's Classic. I picked out 3 Squiers and 2 Fenders, and sat down with them for an hour. After one hour, this one came out a winner
Great choice! I have also just recently bought the same model (in red: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/247828-nbd-fender-precision-classic-50/) I was very tempted by the cream one you got. VERY tempted. But I'm in a red phase so I went for that instead. But the cream one just oozes class. Yum. Like the above poster, I hate the feeling of the metal pickguard on my fingers... so I removed it immediately and put a mint-white one instead. I have been playing the Precision exclusively since I got it, much to my surprise (I've never been a P-bass guy)... I can't say it's the sound I prefer *always*, I still want the Stingray and the Jazz often, but the Precision does another flavour amazingly well and it's a joy to play... Nice one!
