Keep the Squier and learn to play while you try out lots of basses. One day, if you're lucky, you'll find a bass that has a sound to die for and that £1k will be there for it.

or.... you could join the rest of us on that GAS merry-go-round of buying and trying and losing money until you learn the difference is all in the fingers anyway. Your choice.

Don't forget the amp is probably half of the sound. Maybe you could look at finding a better amp?

Good bass & crap amp = crap sound
Cheap bass & good amp = good sound

Thanks folks to be honest that's what I thought everyone would say , so I'll keep my squire I've a practise amp so I'm ok there also no neighbours so I can practise whenever I like .not really clued up on effects and things like that. May use the money to get more lessons probably the best idea.

if the squire is nice enough and you spend a modest 50-80 quid on a decent set of pups you probably wont want/need to splash out on an expensive bass for a while

imho mcton etc etc

Spend the £1000 on drugs - you'll sound utterly fantastic and make lots of new friends!! :D

Seems legit. Although as for taking the drugs yourself... 1,000 quid is rather a lot.

Well I was imagining they'd last for a month or so. Depending on how many 'friends' you accumulate. :)

Well it all depends on the rate at which they're taken - I guess more people would help dispose of them quicker without loss of life...
