budget bassist Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Someone must think this is actually a stingray, which it obvously isn't, i can't think of any other way for it to have that many bids on it... Kev Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 doesnt suprise me, that actually the first time iv ever seen a stingray copy with musicman decal on headstock, be it low quality. i imagine theres plenty of beginners out there who would like something like this, compared to say a Vintage copy with 'vintage' plastered on the headstock. Machines Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Maybe a mate of his is pumping up the price ? Quote
budget bassist Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Ah yeah that's a good point, shill bidding maybe Quote
phil_the_bassist Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 It does seem like a high number of bids, but the price is pretty good atm, and it does seem quite tidy! Also, defo agree that you dont see many Stingray replicas with the MM decals! If I was looking for a MM on the cheap, this (and poss uprating the pup) could give you a nice sound for a nth of the price of a real Ray! Quote
budget bassist Posted August 2, 2008 Author Posted August 2, 2008 I dunno, it doesn't look like agreat copy, really the only copies i've seen that are particularly good are OLP, and it doesn't look like one of those... seems a little high to me Quote
Kev Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 why do you not think it is a great copy?? i quite like the finish on the body, n the neck looks like its nicely lacquered, okay the action looks sky high but a good set up will probably sort that out Quote
budget bassist Posted August 2, 2008 Author Posted August 2, 2008 Unless they're active i find they don't tend to even come close to sounding as good as a musicman Quote

Kev Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 good price for what looks like a pretty decent instrument! Quote
doctor_of_the_bass Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Looks fairly decent!!! Looks a bit like one of the Jay Turser basses but with a proper 3 and 1 headstock! The OLP basses are by and large, passive and they do posess a decent `Ray style tone albeit less powerful! N Quote
budget bassist Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008
fair enough...I've got little experience with MM reps, so I'm trustin you on this'un!
I've owned a couple of ray copies in my time @ above ^^ yeah OLP are one of the only companies i find that make nice copies, not to say there aren't others out there but i trust OLP more than the others.
