Amazing little Jazz amp.

Hey guys. I've just bought one of these:

Made by the same people who make the Markbass Micromark bass amp - kind of shows in the design don't you think?

Great tone and plenty of volume from my old 335 - although I also had a chance to play this particular item:

Now I'm not really a proper Jazz player although I can bluff well enough for most punters' satisfaction it seems, but I left the shop wanting this guitar very much! :gas: It really was that good.

Anyhoo, first impressions of the amp are very favourable. Simple, no frills approach with the focus firmly on tone - oh, and portability :) . I'll be gigging it in a few weeks and will report back for the benefit of anybody still reading this.

While I'm here, anybody have a clue where I can source a third-party padded soft cover for it? It's fractionally bigger than a Micromark so anything made for that will likely be a wee bit small. DV Mark have thus far not seen fit to produce one (although to be fair it *is* a very new design). All sensible offers will be taken seriously.

Nice...have a look at Mambo amps, a UK made amp of similar design. I got one last year and its done almost every gig since (BG and Double bass) but its primarily a jazz guitar amp..much like the old Polytone is its concept .

I had the same problem with a cover, but I plastered the delivery box in gaffer tape (cut off the bottom and made a slot for the handle) and ten months later its still going strong!

I used to have a Polytone Mini Brute IV with a big old 15" Eminence speaker for exactly this purpose, but sold it as it was too heavy to lug around after my back problem. It was very good at what it did though, and even doubled as a bass amp once or twice.

Why does it need a fan? It's only 45W

Beats me! It's quite loud too when the amp's not in use. Took me a minute or two to work out what was making the racket first time I heard it! Not an issue when you're playing though, and it must be said that it does sound very convincing for something so small - plenty of bass output too (as you'd expect I guess ;) ). Makes my old 335 sound like a proper jazz guitar. :)

Update: well I did the gig and the amp did sterling service - sounded great, absolutely perfect for the job. Had my little Boss CH3 at the front end for the spacey stuff, but that apart straight into the amp. Nice reverb too, and tone controls that actually do something!

I may do this again...
