TheSiberian
Hello fellow bassheads, I saw in a video a bass player wearing a glove on the right hand. I play bass since 35 years and never saw something like this so please, maybe someone know; what's the hype, is it something special? Is someone among you who play with a glove? M@23
Scott Devine maybe? I think he has a medical need for it. I've seen him mention it on more than one occasion in his fantastic videos.
Lynottfan
The Legendary Mr Louis Johnson used to wear a glove on his hand, I think he did it to slow himself down iirc, that boy can slap! He's a good 'un.

I have a Fender with a gloss neck and the gloves stop my hands sticking to it on hot sweaty gigs and that's now the main reason I wear them although I dig the smoothness too, I play fretless with them as well. Still think they look damn cool I had a rehearsal and a gig this week, and I hadn't picked up a bass for two months, I rehearse without the gloves and managed to get blisters on my picking fingers. One of them burst during the quick soundcheck and it felt raw as hell. Did the gig with the gloves on an had no problems at all, in fact I played harder than usual. spongebob
Simon Rogers, who played with The Fall for a while, played with a white glove to protect his digits!

Wonky2
I am intrigued by the gloves......... As mentioned in other threads, I have arthritis... My hands are often very stiff and only heat/ warmth can get them going....i often drive with my hands taking turns at the hot blowers in The car on the way to play as fear of letting me get cold is always there..... Very often plunge my hands into a basin full of hot water before playing too..... I wonder if the gloves would help with this problem..... No probs with blisters or anything, purely to keep hands warm ? I do wear some funky looking neoprene type arthritis gloves after playing and through out the day, they are finger lees at the tips but to bully too play in, the are more about compression and support of the joints... Where can I buy such gloves for playing in, gotta be worth a try..... Edited October 18, 2014 by Wonky2
