Having just watched U2 on Graham Norton ( yes, I'm so rock n roll), unless my TV sound is crap, the old adage about how you need to amp up an Acoustic Bass to hear it over an acoustic guitar, was never so true....he may as well have been playing a rubber band.

True for almost all of them. The exceptions, if you can find them, are the Guild, a Martin or the Tacoma Thunderchief.

All the usual "acoustics" that you see around have bodies which are too small and too heavily built.

We watched it too. On our big old CRT telly I could hear him playing, but only just. I've fancied a acoustic for a while but don't know if I'd be disappointed by the (lack of) volume. My acoustic guitar is pretty loud.

Taking mine to the next open mic night to work thru ideas with a guitard before our slit comes up - it doesn't need to be loud as I'll use my electric bass for the actual slot
