Guest MoJo
More recently I'm starting to feel the weight of my bass at gigs. After a two hour stint my left shoulder aches. Never used to be a problem in my youth but my 52 year old body can't take the strain. I use a padded 3" strap but it looks like I need something superior (or buy a Hohner B2). Recommendations anyone? Coilte
http://www.gruvgear.com/duostrap Perhaps one of these is worth considering. A bit on the expensive side, but what price your health and comfort ?
ezbass
Is it the actual weight of the bass or a neck dive issue? If the latter, try fitting lightweight Hipshots, or moving the strap buttons. If it is a weight issue then other than wide straps (my preferred, personal option) you could look at Mono straps or Comfort Strapp; I've tried both and didn't get on with them but many others swear by them. Clarky
I have a dodgy shoulder and back and highly rate the wide padded Minotaur straps http://www.minotaur.gr/product_info.php/products_id/64/osCsid/q7eqj0mc89o1vv78puhc7b31el0hrmbs
I have been around the block with a variety of straps and the gruvgear duo strap has kept me in the game (like you, i am 52 and gigging for 30+ years). Certainly take a bit of getting used to and setting up. Feels more like a harness than a strap initially, but in my case I had no choice but to persevere and would not be without it now. If you opt for it get the leather version. does what it says on the tin. Distributes the weight across both shoulders and away you go. Not sure about the 'duostrap' although I could imagine that it would alleviate the problem

It makes it really easy to play long nights without any shoulder ache because it balances the bass over both shoulders. I was using the Comfort Strapp before, but the Duo Strap is far superior. If you didn't want the Duo Strap, Gruv Gear also make the Solo Strap which is the same great quality but only for one shoulder.
Lozz196
I use the Mono GS1 "The Betty". Wasn`t that impressed when I first put the bass on, but when I got home after a 3hr rehearsal with a 10lb Precision strung over my shoulder, that`s when I realised the benefits of this strap. One thing re these straps, I have the long version and at its longest setting it`s only just long enough. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mono_STRAPPS.html

Telebass
Try and get a lighter bass. Although 9 and bit is not THAT heavy, going diwn to 7lb is like playing fresh air. Search!
neepheid
The Neotech Mega bass strap makes playing a 12lb+ bass bearable for me, so I imagine it would do a job for a 9lb bass. Nice and wide neoprene job.
Karl Derrick
Let me know if you'd like to try out the prototype of my ergonomic strap. I'll post it, you can post it back when you've had a play. Roland Rock
Great price - was that used? I've just bought a Neotech Mega after a shoulder injury, and am very happy with it indeed. The stretch/bounce really absorbs shock compared to my plain leather one. Mega comfy.
Another +1 for the Neotech Mega.
