JuliusGroove
Ive got myself a mex jazz which I love however I feel like the pickups are letting me down. I was looking at the Aguilar 70's style replacements but was just wondering if anyone could recommend some others they have used and really liked? Cheers guys Jack

Conan
Be careful as MIM Js have both pickups the same length rather than the slightly longer bridge and shorter neck units that othe Js have. Some companies (EMG for instance) sell matched pairs specifically for MIM jazz basses - other wise you might need to get two (I think) neck pickups to fit the routed holes in your Mex bass... Brand-wise, I would recommend EMG, Wizard (now trading as HotRod), GFS and Entwistle - depending on budget. Plenty of reviews of those brands on here! But I think that was the last batch (I know they had gone back to normal sizes by 2008!). Got a set of Creamery Pickups. Very nice. Marc S
There are indeed lots of great replacement pickups for Jazz basses around Without actually hearing them, it's difficult to make a judgement Any reviews on here are handy, and everyone will have their favourites - for differing reasons I wanted to just try something fairly cheap, as a first attempt at pickup change on my Jazz I got a pair of DiMarzio's from a fellow BC'er, for a reasonable price Fitted them, and I must say, they've worked really well There may be lots of more expensive options out there but sometimes it's worth experimenting with some second-hand pickups.... Keep an eye on the marketplace here....
thebassist
I've bought the 60's, 70's and hum cancelling Aguilar Jazz replacement pickups. I thought they were all pretty good but I stuck with the 60's ones i the end and sold the others. I'd like to try their new 'hot' pickups though - they look pretty cool. And to repeat what TheSiberian said, the Fender Jazz Custom Shop pickups are fantastic. Really fantastic.
jensenmann
I have recently replaced the PUs of my Fenix Jazz with a Rockinger set, see here: http://www.rockinger.com/index.php?lang=ENG&list=WG101 These are modeled after 60s J PUs and sound fantastic. The improvement was way more than I expected. Esp. the Hot Jott bridge type is killer.
Lozz196
Seymour Duncan Hot Stacks - as well as sounding good they`re hum-cancelling, which is a real bonus on a Jazz.
