Kevin Dean
When setting up the input level I can hit one string & hardly see it move but hit another string & it nearly touching the red So I try to get some where in between The while doing a gig the needle is going mental & going right into the red, It doesn't bother me sound wise but just wondered if I was doing something wrong ? BruceBass3901
Which amp are you using? The ABM NEO 400 in your 'Interests' section? And what bass are you playing? How have you got the EQ set?
dannybuoy
Just put some masking tape over it and concentrate on the sound it makes!
lefrash
Yeah I've had an ashdown, and pretty much ignored the meter. I'm sure it's perfectly accurate, but I found it exactly how you described it. As long as it didn't constantly max out, I'd be happy. grenadilla
If you have 50hZ boosted a lot the E string will be way louder. On my new Sterling Ray 34 and SUB4 I had to lower the pickup on the E string side so the Gstring could be as loud as the others.

BassTractor
I don't know the answer, and am a noob, but FWIW I found the VU in my MAG300 head to work perfectly like expected, whilst the VU in my Little Bastard is all over the place and seems like a gimmick to me. JPJ
Do what we used to do to 2-stroke racing motorcycles, block off the Rev counter either side of the power band. As long as you could see the needle, everything was fine :-)

Kevin Dean
I thought they were fitted at the request of Mark King to make sure you don't do triplets faster than him .
