Dandelion Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I use a Shuttle 6 with a Markbass 410HF. I play a Thunderbird in a classic rock band. Would a OTB have any advantage over the Genz? Quote
discreet Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Is it grit or overdrive or disto you're looking for? If so I'd use a pedal or a preamp in front of the shuttle. Quote
Dandelion Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Ayup Mate. To be honest I like the clean sound of the Genz. But I have an urge for an OTB cos it looks the biz.. Will the OTB give a clean volume advantage? Quote

[/quote] I've never used one but the impression I get from this forum is that it doesn't really do 'clean'. I could well be wrong of course. Best wait for an OTB fan to turn up. Quote
Dandelion Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Will do Mark. Thanks for your input... Quote

Lozz196 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 If you keep the Gain down to about 2, there is still a huge amount of volume to be had with an OTB. I used to use mine with both Gain and Volume on 2 in a pnk covers band, so not a quiet band, and it was plenty. I made the mistake of putting the volume on 4 once (my reg go to volume setting on most amps I find) and it was mind-blowingly loud. You can also change the valve to a lesser-gain version, then you have more scope before breakup, which I found happened at around 2 or 3. Quote
