Hi fellow Basschatters

Recently I've been getting into some Tower of Power/Rocco stuff. Aside from the likes of Prestia and Pastorius, can anyone point me in the direction of other goodly purveyors of groovy, 16th note finger funk bass?

Cheers. :)

Might not get any thanks here, but Rocco is way too mechical and it just isn't funky, IMO.
U.K guy I used to like,
Jerome Rimson.
You can't ignore Jaco, as you know.

You can get great lines from a pick and heavy muting.
Anthony Jackson and Bobby Vega... who is great at whatever he does..

Cheers for that Bassnut62,

Are there any particular Herbie Hancock/Headhunters albums that you'd recommend?

The Headhunters album is a great start, but my favourite is Thrust, especially the song Palm Grease.

Jerry Jemmott is well worth a mention on this thread. On BB King's Live and Well album, he plays on the studio half, and really shows his funk on Get Off My Back Woman

Yes, Thrust is good and Sunlight, and Mr Hands too; but my faves are obscure Japanese vinyl, tho they may be available on CD or as mp3s these days.
They are Flood (incredible live album with best version of Chameleon) and the other is an LP called Direct Step, which has one whole side that is just the best ever version of I Thought It Was You....that's how to use a vocoder!

I also love the LP by The Headhunters called Survival of The Fittest. There are two tracks on there that are SO tough...God Make Me Funky and If You've Got It, You'll Get It.

I've heard a couple of Jamiroquai tracks he played on and was very impressed. Can you recommend any Incognito for me to check out the best of RHT?

As a RHT/Jamiroquai slight digression I dunno if anyone would be interested in this...?
