bassace Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Saw him at Cornbury a couple of years ago. he was very smiley and his playing was great. RIP Jack, one of the true greats. Very sad. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) Very sad, but not a massive shock. He looked extremely frail in his last BGM appearance. Still, a huge loss. I was never a Cream fan but his early solo albums are among my favourites. I think I'll dig out my EB3 tonight. Edited October 25, 2014 by Cosmo Valdemar Quote
crag42 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Truly great bass player and I'm sure a massive influence on many here knew it was coming having seen him in a magazine recently looking really thin and quite ill RIP JACK Quote
sblueplanet Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 One of the first bassplayers I was ever introduced to. R.I.P. to a fellow Scot. Quote
Bass Culture Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) RIP Jack. If it wasn't for 'Badge' I don't think I'd ever have wanted to play bass. A great loss. Edited October 25, 2014 by Bass Culture Quote
timmo Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 He was the main reason i went to the London Bass Show, and he pulled out due to illness. Very sad news Quote
SpaceChick Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014
RIP Jack. If it wasn't for 'Badge' I don't think I'd ever have wanted to play bass. A great loss.
Badge is one of my favourite basslines. Gutted RIP to a lovely man and a tremendous musician. Quote
Oldman Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited)
Only ever got to see him once, with BBM at Brixton back in '93 or so. Great show. To be honest, I loved his voice more than his bass playing, although he did play a mean bass. Only Ginger left out of those three now.
Stupid remark removed Edited October 25, 2014 by Oldman Quote
Oldman Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) I still struggle with Born under a Bad Sign singing and playing. An inspiration to me from Graham Bond days when I saw him twice at Chester Quaintways playing his Fender Six string which at my stage of competence ( non existent ) and age (16) seemed amazing, still does. RIP Big Man Edited October 25, 2014 by Oldman Quote
spinynorman Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Very sad. He'll be remembered as a great musician and a highly talented song writer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YguY_jUDXRs Quote
skankdelvar Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014
When did Eric die? ShergoldSnickers Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 'Badge' was one of the first basslines I learned. I was 17 and had just bought a Wilson Rapier bass. An early and important influence. Sad, sad news. Quote

Roger2611 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Two famous musicians in a week now, sad week, RIP Jack and RIP Alvin Quote
Billy Apple Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 There seem to be 3 separate RIP Jack Bruce threads over GD+OT. Anyone able to merge them all. I don't appear to be able to do it, unless I'm missing something? Quote
