BassManGraham Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Very sad day indeed. Jack Bruce was a genuine legend and a huge ground breaking influence from the golden era of rock. Four of my all time favourite players have now sadly passed (Jamerson, Edwards, Entwistle, and now Bruce). Sadly no-one in the last few decades has come close to the bass playing talent that emerged in the 60s & 70s. Quote
madshadows Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Gutted, a true bass legend gone, BADGE is one my favourite songs ever, RIP Jack Bruce John Quote
essexbasscat Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) The news has put my chin on the table. Working out Jack's bass lines to Cream songs launched my bass playing in a new direction as a young teenager. I'm stunned. Thank you Jack, for so much RIP Edited October 26, 2014 by essexbasscat Quote
alembic1989 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Gutted. One of the greats, influenced me greatly. A rock legend for sure. Quote
toneknob Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Really sad news - another of my "without whom" team moved on. Quote

Phil Adams Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Oh no, my lifelong hero gone. R.I.P. Jack Quote
Paultrader Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I can only agree with all the rest. When I bought my first bass guitar in 1970 it had everything to do with Cream and Jack Bruce. I remember seeing the Jack Bruce Band at a free gig in Hyde Park in the early 70s - I'm sure the sun was shining. Thanks for tons of inspiration Jack. Quote
Chezz55 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Very sad news - the inspiration of a generation of Bass Players - my best wishes to the Bruce family. Thanks for some great music Jack - especially 'Badge' and 'White Room'. Chris. Quote
Pukie Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014
Thanks for some great music Jack - especially 'Badge' and 'White Room'.
+1 I figured that if Warwicks were good enough for John Entwistle and Jack Bruce, they were good enough for me. Now they are both gone, and so is my Warwick The clock is ticking!!!..... pfretrock Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Planet Rock's Jack Bruce interview from earlier this year is being re-broadcast right now. Hopefully will be on Listen again. The DG album is being played later. Quote
toneknob Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 BBC Four are showing this Jack bruce documentary tonight: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01c6hw2 I think it's been on before, if so it's well worth a watch. Quote
KevB Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Will try to catch that. A couple of weeks ago I popped in to a local jam night and as they got me up to do some blues i made them finish the 3 song set with Crossroads. I didn't play it anywhere near the live Cream version but it was my little tribute to the man. Quote
spinynorman Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I had a strange fantasy that when he died I'd be in band that could play Theme for an Imaginary Western as a tribute, but when the time came I wasn't even in a band. Quote
