Les Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Many years ago in a different galaxy I made a foootswitch that basically turned the mains off/on to the lighting. Plug, cable, footswitch unit, socket that the lights were all plugged into kind of configuration. If I say so myself it was a very sturdy but when I switched it on and off the there was a big "clunk" through the PA Someone told me that I needed to put a (?) capaciter/resitor/dilithiam crystal/sonic screwdriver/flugle valve in and it wouldn't make the clunk. He was right and it worked flawlessly for years. What is it I need to stop the clunk through the PA ? I can't remember. I could ask our guitarist who would defo know but I'm not even speaking to him at the minute so I thought I'd ask the basschat font of all knowledge. Ta Les Quote
thefyst Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 your putting the lighting rig into the PA? Sometimes you get a pop from guitar pedals when you hit the switch and you get a change in voltage you use a big old resistor on the input and output caps to ground. Not exactly sure what is going on in your pedal though TF Quote
icastle Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 You want an X2 suppression capacitor connected between the neutral and live terminals on the switch. Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1uf-1mfd-275Vac-X2-Suppression-capacitor-Iskra-KNB1560-73398-22-27-5mm-Pitch-/230939244786 Quote
