MoonBassAlpha Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Just scored a 1996 Korean Tele in blonde, off eBay for a decent price! Just got to restring and tweak the setup tonight and it's good to go!
MoonBassAlpha Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 That's what I thought. When I picked it up, I apologised to the chap for the low price it went for, and he said it was more than he was expecting, so we were both happy. Win-win!
Cat Burrito Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I'd have paid more too. I love Squiers because they are great guitars and we lose so much competition from the snobs when buying. Teles rule too
hollywoodrox Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Seems a fair price, I think after 96 they started making them with solid wood again, before 96, they were ply and the pickups could go microphonic, they also had smaller pots on them. I am currently looking at reasonable price pre 96 ones as I like the maple fingerboard and hope to get one to customise. Your tele looks super well done
MoonBassAlpha Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 My guitarist plays a black American Traditional Tele from about '99. He tried mine at the end of our practice tonight and the korean crushed it, sounded so much more meaty comparing only bridge pickups. Even the drummer commented on the difference. Turns out his tele had the bass side of the pickup lowered a lot, but even bringing it up still didn't really make it sound any better than the Korean, and still not as loud. Quite chuffed!
