Truckstop Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 As above really. Are there any alternatives to the Boss or is it pretty much the standard? Looking for something to help reduce really low bass frequencies in difficult rooms (looking to cut the 65hz completely) while also looking to make use of it's EQ functions for different songs and playing styles etc. Truckstop Quote
Cameronj279 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 The Source Audio Programmable EQ really interests me. From what I can tell basically the same as the GEB-7 but you can program 4 different EQ settings into it and switch between them. Seems really useful in all honesty although possibly a bit finicky. Truckstop Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Looks a bit pricey for me too; thanks for the suggestion though! Alex Quote
stevie Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) You need a proper parametric equalizer. I'll be putting one of these on the For Sale board later today when I've sorted out a photo: http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHPEQ2200 It works as a standalone bass preamp as well. AttitudeCastle Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Maybe look at the MXR 10 band EQ? Not exactly cheap but has a cut at 62.5Hz? Quote
hubrad Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 The Fishman Pro-EQ II preamp has 4-band EQ plus a sub-bass control on the back. They crop up used for not much money. Recently discontinued. http://www.fishman.com/files/513_300_152_ra_user_guide_preamp_family_web.pdf Quote
Truckstop Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 MXR looks good! Not sure the Fishman has enough options for me and not keen on using rack gear. I really wish SFX did a Thumpinator with a little EQ on it also. He probably could but I couldn't afford to commission one! Cheers guys Alex Quote

lefrash Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I use the graphic eq on a zoom ms60b to cut out the 50hz. And below..works a treat. Easily tweakable on the fly too. I use mine for preamp/ eq/ compressor/ noise gate and tuner. Does them all nicely and only takes up one space. Quote
Truckstop Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Wow, that Zoom's completely passed me by. Looks awesome. I think I might nab one of those and see how I get along with it. I love my Boss ME20b but if this does it all but with a smaller footprint it might be a winner! Alex Quote

Alex [/quote] I can't praise the Zooms enough, there are a few minor quirks with them but nothing major IMO but do a search on BC and you can read loads of useful info before purchasing one, I've had a B3 and now own the MS60B, I'm amazed at just what you can do with one small pedal.
