Matte_black Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) Keeping it for now. Edited May 12, 2016 by Matte_black
Matte_black Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Still available. I managed to get some extra informations from Dave Green, if anybody's interested.
Billy Apple Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 What's the information? Do you have any pics of the head? All the insides would be nice
Matte_black Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Hello... I have a few pics, of course... but no pics of the guts. It's a brand new head with tags, I'm not going to open it! Additional informations: The pre amplifier dates back to “TRACE ELLIOT” days when the boss of ASHDOWN was the boss of TE The first stage has NO gain at all it merely changes the impedance from high to low. The second stage BOOSTS the signal to work the PASSIVE tone controls. The third stage recovers the weak signal from the passive tone controls and makes it large enough to be fed to the power amplifier. The most famous bass preamplifier used by recording artists all over the world is a direct equivalent of the TE preamplifier and this is why it was chosen for this amplifier.
LukeFRC Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014
It's just awesome but... no way I can ever need such an amp in my life since I rarely gig and when I do, I bring the PA... so the bass goes into the PA thru the Pod XT. Sad but true.
no way - If I had to put money on a forum-er who had a big stack of valve amps they used live you'd be in the shortlist! Mr Foxen would probably be the one I would actually put the money on but still!
The pre amplifier dates back to “TRACE ELLIOT” days when the boss of ASHDOWN was the boss of TE
oooohh trace v type... yum
Matte_black Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 It feels like a Fender Bassman, you know... if I remember correctly from the time I plugged it in, cutting all the controls to zero stops the signal.
BruceBass3901 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I think the tone stack on these are fairly similar to my CTM, which is based on a Fender style tonestack, so if you knock all the controls to zero, you get nothing. These are great sounding amps; if I didn't have a CTM-300, this would be oh so very tempting. Good luck with the sale
Matte_black Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Thank you! The amp is just a thing of beauty but luckily I have enough brain cells to understand that keeping it would be a mistake... it's definitely too much for my bedroom bassist needs, as you can guess
BruceBass3901 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I hear that... feel guilty keeping my CTM in its flightcase in my room, but I won't part with it as it was a 21st birthday present and is custom (chrome face instead of black) and has a message from the guys at Ashdown on the back)
Matte_black Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 Still here, looking at me from its chrome faceplate.
4funkystrings Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015
Can't believe it's still here.
Me neither brother!! If it stays here for long enough... it will end up being MINE!
TheRockinRoadie Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Can't believe I'm going m to miss this. Anyone want to buy a kidney?
Matte_black Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Yeah, it's really weird for me too. I'm selling everything to make room, I'm not playing anymore and for sure I don't need a 400w tube amp at the moment. If I had a decent project I'd keep it for sure.
Matte_black Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Still looking at the beast unused... sad story.
