sargeriño Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 How do, My name is Ant, and I'm a long time musician, first-time bass player. After 23 years behind the drum kit I've decided that the time was right to move on to a new instrument as I was no longer enjoying it. Seeing as I'm already one part of the rhythm section, I decided to see how the other half live. So I bought a very nice Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz bass (which I'm loving), and I'm now working on my technique. I'm determined to prove to myself, that even at the ripe old age of 37, you can still aim to learn and become proficient at a new instrument. So, watch this space... Quote
DaytonaRik Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hello and welcome from sunny Barnsley! Nice to have someone on the doorstep so to speak. A good bunch in here with loads of sage advice and experience aplenty! Quote
Allie Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hello Ant Welcome to the forum. As Rik said, the crowd here is very friendly and helpful so if you have any playing queries, these folk will endeavour to put you in the right. Hope you enjoy your stay. Al. Quote
LukeFRC Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 hello from Kirkstall - unless I reply from work in Rothwell! Quote
sargeriño Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Good to be here... I must say, I've got five more gigs as a drummer, and then I'm out! I can't wait! Very soon, I'll be asking for Amp advice for the novice bass player, so any advice on where to post such questions? I believe there is a Gear section? Quote
Allie Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 General Discussion seems to be the place of choice when anyone has a bass/music question, then perhaps scan through the gear available sections to see whats up. I don't think anyone is too fussed tbh, where you post requests for advice - if you get it wrong the nice Moderators help out by moving your post(s) to the correct place. HTH Quote
Mattpt85 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 How do from Huddersfield! Welcome to here and the bass playing world in general! Quote
