Best String Query

hi all,
anyone share their thoughts as to what are the best strings for a P Bass, I guess I',m looking for that authentic James Jamerson/ Motown sound.

Of course, the funk is in the gunk -- and also in the fingers... but it would seem to be a good starting point!

thanks conan, really useful, they're going on an american Xotic P 4 string bass (modern P) the strings it came with seem far too bright and zingy to me (non tech speak)

I love the GHS Precision Flats - really nice sounding strings.

You'll also need a neck shaped like a banana and some old socks under the strings near the bridge

They should be as funky as possible.

By the way those Jamerson strings are REALLY heavy. Like suspension bridge cable heavy. You might be better off with a lower guage!
