artisan
So I bought a cheapo J Tone pickup off eBay just as an emergency backup,it arrived yesterday so I put on my bass, through my fdeck to try it out. what a suprise, although the output is lower than my usual pickup it gave a really nice warm, mellow tone, kind of my bass but louder,I kid you not. I honestly expected it to sound sh*te instead it sounds very good indeed & for the measly sum of £28 Edited November 5, 2014 by artisan
Beer of the Bass
Which J-tone was it? The Bass Max -esque one or the one with the red and green sides? I've been quite surprised that almost any piezo which fits into the bridge wing can sound OK when used with a high-impedance preamp. I've tried a couple of different very cheap piezos used this way (including a £9.99 Belcat) and both were entirely usable. alexpea
I've got one of these as a back up. It sounds great. I bought the double one which has a piezo for each side of the bridge. A bit like a double bass max
