Basswood is a posh name for chipboard, often made from old kitchen worktops.

Contrary to popular belief, reggae-lite outfit UB40 took their name from a postal district in Uxbridge not from an employment benefit form.

Ian MacKaye, founder of legendary straight-edge acts Minor Threat and Fugazi, was recently sectioned following his breakdown in the cooked meats aisle of his local supermarket. On attending the scene, paramedics found him rubbing handfuls of bacon over his naked body and screaming "it's all lies, all lies I tell you".

When Pye muso Tony Hatch wrote the theme music for the '60s ATV soap Crossroads, he borrowed a guitar riff from Robert Johnson's 1936 recording. Whether there was a copyright issue or it just did not fit with the program's concept is unknown, but it was rejected by the TV company and he had to quickly re-write the theme.

Members of disbanded groups Heads, Hands and Feet and Little Feet have joined new Folk Super group BelllowHead. Other provisional names for the new band such as Knees, Toes, Neck, Shoulders, Chest, Stomach, Back and Arse were all rejected.

It has been revealed "Crazy" Seal and "Crazy" Ce-Lo Green are actually one and the same person! Apparently as Seal's record sales slumped he reinvented himself as Ce-Lo. His double header gigs with his alter ego are made less complicated by him using the same lyrics for both sets with just different song structures. The truth was spotted by eagle-eyed yanks who realised you never saw them both on stage together. Janet Jackson is reportedly following this story closely.
