Hi folks,

It's chucking it down right now and I've got somewhere to be with my bass... just wondering if anyone has any experiences with the Fender SKB hard cases in the rain? It's one of the square 2008+ ones. I reckon it'll be fine, but I don't want to take any risks with my bass getting wet.

Cheers

Should be OK for a brief trip in the rain - but unless it's a totally sealed road case - Wrap it / cover it - e.g. plastic bag, cling film etc.

Depends on the weather. I've carried a gig bag & a cheap gator case in the rain without problems - But I wasn't walking for an hour or leaving it in puddles!

I use a waterproof Mono case these days, but in such situations I've put glad wrap all along the middle where the case opens: dry and fine!

Do I detect an antipodean?

My Fender SKB case is almost 25 years old, it has interlocking aluminium edges on both sides all round. Never had any serious problem with rain getting in. In a real downpour it's sometimes had the black fur around the edges a bit damp - but never enough to reach the guitar itself.
